A healthy crop of hair is a sign of health and vitality. Almost no other part of the body gets as much attention as the head and the hair growing on it.

A single hair has a diameter of about 0.06 mm. It can reach the ripe old age of six years, after which another hair grows on the same spot. In a healthy hair about six to eight layers of horn scales grow in layers, rather like roof tiles, over and around the core of the hair and so form a smooth surface. The root of the hair (the follicle) stays within the skin and here also are the cells which build up the hair. To achieve and maintain a healthy head of hair, It is important that these cells are kept in good condition.

On average about 50 to 100 hairs are lost per day. That is a perfectly normal state of affairs, and usually these are replaced at the same rate.  If too much hair is lost, or the hair becomes dry or brittle, or has split ends, this may be caused by inadequate nutrition, stress or unfavourable environmental factors.

For beautiful healthy hair it is essential to ensure that sufficient vitamins and nutrition necessary for good hair growth are taken in. Our normal food intake cannot always guarantee that sufficient nutrition of the right type is provided. A nutritional shortage can have as consequence that hair growth is not optimally supported. A nutritional supplement added to the relevant diet can however ensure that the substances essential for good hair growth are supplied. This ensures that the hair becomes strong and shiny and appears to be full of body.
