Now that we are inundated with modern medicines, we often forget those old-fashioned household remedies that were especially held in high esteem by the rural population. One of these unobtrusive but effective remedies known since ancient times was oat straw, a remedy that is recommended from time to time by well-known nature cure healers, such as quite recently by Pastor Kneipp. Oat straw is recommended when the quality of our blood has deteriorated as a result of too much rich food and the poisonous waste products that have been stored in the body's tissues. Drinking green oat straw tea will dissolve these deleterious products and helps to remove them from the body. It definitely helps inremoving superfluous fluids and has thus a beneficial effect on problems associated with kidneys and the bladder, rheumatism and gout.
Drinking green oat straw tea daily will cleanse the body and help lower the amount of uric acid in the body. In addition it lowers the cholesterol level, is good for diabetics, has a tranquilising effect, purifies the blood and provides strength when the body has taken on too much.
Application:
As a cleansing tea: 2 or 3 times daily pour a cup of boiling water over a heaped soup spoon of green oat straw tea, allow it to steep for 10 minutes and drink the liquid.
As purifying bath: two or three times a week pour 4 to 6 hand-fulls of oat straw into 4 litres of cold water in a saucepan, bring to the boil, cover with a lid and allow the mixture to simmer gently. Pour the mixture through a sieve into the bath water and immerse the body for 20 minutes.
